Your privacy is important to us, the developer(s) of Vegvisir. This Privacy Policy governs the use of information within Vegvisir, an Android application (referred to as "our app" or "the app"). By using our app, you agree to the terms outlined here.

Information and Permissions

Vegvisir is built to operate completely locally on your device. It does not require user accounts, registration, or login services. The app does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share personal information.

Certain optional features require device hardware access via standard permissions to function:

• Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): If granted, the app accesses your device's location to calculate coordinates, determine elevation, and adjust for True North via the local geomagnetic field.
• Sensors: The app relies on device sensors (magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, and rotation vectors) to compute compass headings.
• Vibration (VIBRATE): If enabled in your settings, the app uses haptic feedback to provide alignment or calibration cues.

All data retrieved from these sensors or permissions is processed in real-time, completely locally on your device, and is never transmitted to us or any remote servers.

How Information Is Used

Any location, sensor, or hardware state accessed by Vegvisir is used exclusively to drive the live UI and layout functionalities, including:

• Displaying real-time compass headings and intercardinal orientations.
• Calculating differences between magnetic and true alignments.
• Providing relative coordinate updates and sensor accuracy status.

Data Storage and Retention

Vegvisir stores your preferences (such as True North toggles, coordinate view settings, and calibration status) locally on your device using native sandboxed storage.

Because we do not collect or transmit user data to remote servers, we do not host or retain any of your information. Your configuration settings remain on your device indefinitely until you clear the app cache, delete the app data, or uninstall the application through your system settings.

Third-Party Services

Vegvisir does not feature advertising networks, external tracking SDKs, analytics frameworks, or cloud backend dependencies.

App Updates

The app utilizes the official Google Play In-App Updates API to detect, pull down, and apply application updates. This process involves a direct check between your device's Google Play Services client and the Google Play Store infrastructure to check version compatibility. This communication is handled natively by the Android platform; Vegvisir does not extract, intercept, or log any personal identity information or account credentials during this exchange.

Data Security

Since all core data operations occur purely in memory or within sandboxed local files on your own hardware, your information remains entirely under your personal control. We recommend maintaining standard device security measures (such as screen locks and software updates) to secure your local environment.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally to accurately reflect feature enhancements or platform updates. Continued use of the application following updates indicates an acknowledgement of the revised terms.
